Seachtain na Gaeilge!

After the marvellous madness of the World Book Day extravaganza, today we were very privileged (at Dubray Books, Galway) to share in the fun of Seachtain na Gaeilge! Bridget Bhreathnach launched her new children's book as gaeilge Lulu agus an Oiche Ghlorach in the shop this morning at 10.30am, accompanied by the children of Scoil Iognaid's senior infants class. She read to a captivated audience (all of whom have Irish that is far better than mine, I'm pleased to say) and raffled off a copy of  Lulu.... to one lucky winner. It was loud and busy, it was exciting, it was brilliant... it was all in Irish!

This year marks the anniversary of the publication of an extraordinary book. Launch of Genesis by Eilis Barrett

A week ago, I played a small part of the launch of Genesis , the much-anticipated sequel to Oasis by Eilis Barrett; this time at Charlie Byrnes Bookshop in Galway. Vinny Brown introduces Eilis Eilis is a remarkable young woman, as you might imagine since she is 18 years old and this is her second book. ( Oasis was published when she was 16.)
